In April 2018, the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) began the roll-out of a new single technology appraisal (STA) review process, with the aim of achieving speedier patient access. This introduced a technical engagement phase to resolve any issues within submissions prior to committee meetings and a target of publishing guidance within 90-days of market authorisation (MA). This study aimed to review timelines and use of financial agreements for products being appraised with the old (pre-April 2018) and new (post-April 2018) STA process.
