Recently NICE, the UK HTA body, has signed a 2 year agreement with the Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) . The agreement sets out to leverage the strengths of both organisations in embedding evidence-based healthcare and innovations in the NHS.
The AHSN
The Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) works to accelerate change and improve patient outcomes through connecting the NHS with academic organisations, local authorities, the third sector and industry. The network follows an Innovation Pathway which brings together organisations and resources to rapidly embed change.
The Collaboration between NICE and AHSN
The collaboration between the AHSN and NICE is a two year agreement to support the use of the best evidence-based healthcare in the NHS.
The two organisations have previously worked together on a similar goal. The agreement hopes to formalise their partnership and achieve more effective delivery of improvements.
Agreement Priority Areas
The agreement sets out to address 3 key priorities:
- market challenges for digital innovations,
- shaping and generating real world evidence,
- and supporting innovators into the healthcare system.
To deliver on these priorities, NICE and the network will be developing a plan throughout their regular meetings this year.
